Herbalism 101 – An Introduction to Herbs
Stay curious. Start simple.
Herbalism is the practice of working with plants to support the body, calm the mind, and reconnect with the natural world.
This introductory workshop is designed for beginners who want a clear, grounded starting point—without overwhelm.
Whether you’re new to herbs or simply curious, this class will give you the tools to begin working with plants in a practical, approachable way.
What You’ll Learn
In this class, you’ll be introduced to the foundations of herbalism, including:
- What herbalism is—and what it is not
- How herbs support the body through herbal actions
- How to choose the right herb based on your needs
- The basics of preparing simple herbal teas (tisanes)
- How to begin building your own home herbal apothecary
You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of how to work with herbs safely and intentionally.
A Hands-On Experience
This is not a lecture.
You’ll work directly with herbs through a guided sensory experience:
- Smell, taste, and observe three foundational herbs
- Notice how each herb feels in your body
- Learn to recognize warming, cooling, and calming effects
You’ll also create your own simple take-home herbal tea, giving you a practical starting point to continue at home.
What You’ll Take Home
Each participant receives:
- A Herbalism 101 learning binder to build on over time
- Herb profile pages and reference materials
- A tasting and note-taking guide
- A small selection of herbs to begin working with at home
This binder is designed to grow with you as you continue your herbal journey.
